Hortensia Castillo

Hortensia Castillo has been an associate at Jay Carey Law Offices since 1998 and most recently studied Basic Mediation as part of a program facilitated by the Volunteers of America. She is a General Practice Attorney, with a passion for Immigration and Family Law.

Hortensia Castillo’s university education started in 1977 when she attended Anahuac University Medical School. From 1978 to 1983, she studied at the Anahuac University Law School in Mexico City where she received her bachelor’s degree in law.

She worked in the legal field in Mexico City from 1979 to 1984, becoming a licensed attorney in Mexico in 1985. In Washington, she has worked in the legal field since 1990, becoming a licensed attorney in the State of Washington in 1998.

In addition to immigration, Ms. Castillo practices in the areas of D.U.I and traffic infractions, criminal law, Guardian ad Litem, Juvenile Law, Bankruptcy, Immigration, Real Estate, Estate Planning, Business Organization and Landlord/Tenant.

Ms. Castillo is a member of the office of professional education in Mexico, the Washington State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Tulalip Tribal Court and the United States District Court for Western Washington. She has acted as a trustee of the Snohomish County Bar Association since 2002. She has also been a member of both the Office Management Committee and the Professionalism Committee of the Washington State Bar Association since 2007.

Hortensia reads, writes, and speaks fluent Spanish. She is married and a mother of two wonderful daughters. Ms. Castillo is an animal lover, who can often be found with her family dog, Sergeant.
